LSkate is more than a skating club—it’s a welcoming community where everyone can learn, teach, and skate! Founded in 2014 by German Moreno as LondonSkateLife, we’ve expanded to Oxford and Madrid. ‘LS’ stands for ‘Learn to Skate,’ inspired by the shape of a skate. Our passionate instructors offer daily classes for all ages and levels. Get to know them through four fun questions: Who are they? Why did they start skating? What do they enjoy off skates? And what’s their favorite trick?

German Moreno, 2005, Madrid, 🇪🇸

Who are you?

One of the hardest and simplest questions I ever had to answer. I am a curious person,

wondering about how the mind of others works, and sometimes. I love the feeling of skating, a feeling

which has to be shared with others, teaching is the only way to transmit this feeling. After teaching for several years

at Impulso Urbano and being an International Pro Rider for many brands and shops, I founded Skate a bigger community to share this feeling, and guarantee having others to skate next to me.

Why did you start skating?

“Skating is for kids” I grew up with this idea. Yes, of course, we are like kids when we roll around the city on skates and this is the reason I started to skate. In 2005 I saw a person overtaking my grandpa’s car and surprisingly they were not on a bike, they were using skates and this changed my perception of skating. A week later my sister took me to a skate shop and I got €30 plastic skates. We went to my local park and I met Angel Amador, one of Madrid’s best skaters. It is important to have a mentor who is more skilled than you, to guide you correctly.

Ansa Khan, 2023, Oxford, 🇬🇧🇵🇰

Who are you?

My name is Ansa, and I am your Oxford instructor. I have known from a young age that I wanted to help people, probably because of all the struggles I faced as a youth, including the social and political challenges of being a young woman from a migrant family. Life was not easy! This led me to embark on a journey of self-discovery and social justice. I became a Community Development and Youth Worker, achieving my JNC degree qualification, and I have been working in the field for over 10 years.

Why did you start skating?

Sometime between having my second child and reaching my early 30s, I felt something significant was missing from my life. It took some time, prompting from friends, a few inspiring videos, and vague memories of skating as a teen that led me to this amazing new life! I realized I was missing joy, fun, and laughter—the kind of feelings you have as a child when you don’t have to worry about “adult” problems. I skate because life is stressful, and we as human beings, regardless of age, gender, or ability, need an outlet.

What do you like to do without skates?

Outdoors is where I feel best. Enjoying a getaway to the forest is one of the best gifts I can give myself. I love to dance. Reading books is one of my passions. Stopping learning is my greatest fear.
